How does the tracking actually work?
Each copy gets a unique ID written into the file's keywords metadata and as near-invisible text on every page. If a copy leaks, you can check its properties or extracted text to see which ID it carries.
Can the fingerprint be removed?
Someone who knows to look for it and strips metadata + flattens the pages could remove it — this discourages casual leaks, it isn't unbreakable DRM.
Do I need to keep track of the IDs myself?
Yes — this tool shows you the ID for each copy, but doesn't store a directory of who got what. Keep your own record.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No — fingerprinting happens entirely in your browser.
