How it works

  1. 1Drop in a scanned PDF (one made of images, not real text).
  2. 2Hit "Make Searchable" — this reads every page and recognizes the text.
  3. 3Download the new PDF, now searchable and selectable.

Questions people ask

How accurate is the text recognition?

It depends on scan quality — clean, high-resolution scans of printed text work best. Handwriting and low-quality scans will have more errors.

Does this work on any language?

This version is set up for English text recognition.

Why does it need to download something first?

The OCR engine (Tesseract, running as WebAssembly) is a few megabytes and loads once per session — after that it runs fully offline, and your file itself is never uploaded anywhere.

Will it slow down on long documents?

Each page is processed one at a time, so bigger PDFs take proportionally longer. Everything still runs locally on your device.
